Ruby died before I was born back in 1985 from tuberculosis. She also struggled with Schizophrenia
Back in those days mental health wasn't really understood, it was taboo and there was so much shame about it.
There isn't a coincidence that I myself have struggled Scientists have long recognised that many psychiatric disorders tend to run in families, suggesting potential genetic roots. Such disorders include autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar disorder, major depression and schizophrenia.
There is a reason I have used my middle name (Ruby) my whole life.. using it made me feel more Me and helped me feel a connection to this beautiful lady.
Ruby, I am doing this work for you, us, me and for the future generations that struggle with our mental health.
