Through Action for Youth, young people have participated in the ‘Live It’ NCS programme. The National Citizen Service is a voluntary personal and social development program for 16–17 year olds in England and Northern Ireland, funded largely by money from the UK Government. The programme consisted of The Wellbeing Generation offering sessions to different young people each week focussing on supporting them in developing key life skills.
Each session was split into two separate groups of 30 young people aged 16/17 years as part of The Caldecotte Xperience, Milton Keynes.
Our sessions were called ‘Mental health and Wellbeing Mastery’. The content was focused on raising awareness of mental health support routes and providing young people with a mental health toolkit to empower them to tackle their own mental health.
Our diverse team of practitioners were able to support the young people to form a preventative approach to their mental health and wellbeing, whilst also providing them with solutions to problems they may be facing in their day-to-day life, including personal and interpersonal issues.
“It was such a delight to work with these young people. Every week brought a different set of challenges and I learned so much about how to bring the message across in engaging and exciting ways.”
Lana Meher, one of our practitioners
We are excited to be a part of future programs with Action 4 Youth and provide ongoing support to the NCS programs and others, including the Inspiration Program and their Wellbeing in Schools pilot.
